How Important Is Your Health?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Blog

Is health an important issue to you? I will always ask this question to new clients or anyone that approaches me for fitness consultation. The reason is, if you want to start fitness training or if you want to get to understand more about fitness, the first thing you need to know should be why is health so important to you. My explanations on that will be simple, health is one thing you have and you can’t buy no matter what. Seriously, NOTHING can buy health!

I’ve noticed that more than 70% of the population in Malaysia are absolutely not health conscious. This 70% range from teenagers to adults. Obesity had been drastically increasing throughout the years; it’s not only happening in Malaysia, but unfortunately enough, it’s all over the world. In Malaysia, the statistics shows that approximately 16.6% of the population at 1996 were obese and overweight respectively. It’s year 2008 and surprisingly the percentage has not decreased, instead; it’s now even higher. Why aren’t Malaysian doing something about this serious issues? Don’t you worry about deceases such as coronary heart decease, diabetes, hypertension etc.

Being obese or overweight is one issue, the other issue will even though if you are light or small size; but if you have a body fat percentage, that doesn’t make you any healthier than you should be. Our health for the body had always and will always be measure by the percentage of body fat instead of the weight. Everyone tends to be emphasizing so much on their weight and neglected the most important thing of all. Body Fat Percentage! Most females even skip Numerous meals in order to get their “Dream Weight”. Personally, I think that’s ridiculous(no offence). Example : If you are a hot bikini model that weighs 100kg and have a body fat percentage of 8% with a tip top health. Should you still be worrying so much about those numbers on the weighing machine? The answer is “HELL NO!”.

Regardless of how well a person looks from the appearance, the most important thing shall always be your health and fitness level. Your health is the one that keeps you breathing and staying alive. Your health is the one that allows you to spend more time with your families and friends. Your health is the one that keeps you on your daily routine. It all comes back to your health. Appearance is merely a bonus for you when you have good health. By having the best body in the world and yet you are not eating right, not resting enough, drinking your liver away, smoking your lungs out. That will be a total waste of your life. There are so many people these days going to the gym, but only 10% of them truly works out, 20% tries to work out, 10% goes there to get to know the opposite sex, 20% goes there thinking by going to the gym itself will help you get fitter, 10% goes there cause they just need a place to get away, and the left over 30% will be those who goes to the gym as a trend in town. Sadly, out of the 10% that truly works out, 8% smokes, drinks, sleep late and DO NOT apply any health guidelines. So as I always say, “What’s the point?”.

I sincerely hope that more people are genuinely into practicing a healthier and fitter lifestyle. Think of the extra quality time you could spend with your love ones.

Safety Comes First!

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Blog

Recently, I’ve heard a terrible news from some of my old friends back in high school. One of our friends was admitted to the hospital due to a freak accident back in the gym. This friend of ours is still currently in the ICU struggling his way out of the “danger stage“. Everyone now are feeling very worried and helpless, but all we could do now is pray for the best and just have faith in him that he will come back to us shortly.

I am writing this post as an awareness for everyone who are, who will be, or who wants to workout whether at the gym, back at home or any where else. Please be extra careful while performing your workout routines, whether if you are lifting weights, running on the treadmill or just walking from one destination to another. Bare in mind that fitness is of course important to all of us, but so is our safety. Any slight mistakes done by us could lead us to a minor injury up to a very deadly one. DO NOT take things lightly, every move we make should be 100% in our consent. Being cautious while performing your workout is not only for the safety purpose; at the same time, it provides you better results in your training.

Here are some safety tips and guidelines :

1. If possible, hire a qualified fitness trainer for coaching your training. It doesn’t only gives your results but ensures your safety at the same time. Knowing that someone next to you who knows exactly what you should and should not do during your training session.

2. Get yourself a workout buddy. You will provide sufficient motivation for each other as well as ensuring if something were to happened to you, someone is able to call for help right away.

3. DO NOT perform workout routines which you are not sure about. If you happened to see someone with a nice body performing a random workout routine and you attempt to follow it; my advice will be “DON’T!”. Never perform any form of routines which you are not sure about, reason being you are not sure what does it do for you and how safe is that routine.

4. Always seek for professional advice before performing any fitness or sports regime. Get professional consultation from qualified fitness trainers or your personal doctor. Knowing your condition before executing your workout routine is crucial, it is NOT an option. It is a MUST!

5. DO NOT panic if you happened to see any accidents while you are working out. Stay calm and focus just like when you are performing your own routine; immediately look for someone who is able to help the situation or call the hospital to send in an ambulance if the situation seems bad, seek professional advices from fitness trainers or doctors on how should you handle the situation at hand.

I hope my safety tips and guidelines above will be able to prevent any future accidents for those who works out.

Lastly, prayers are made for this friend of ours. I sincerely hope that you will be back with us as soon as possible, I know you will be able to do it. Bless you~
